Ingredients

For Fish 4 darnes of rohu / surmai • ¼ tsp turmeric powder • 2 tbsp mustard oil • Salt as required For Curry 3 dry red chillies (seeds removed) • 1 tsp panch phoran (cumin, fenugreek, fennel, mustard, onion seeds) • 1 medium tomato (chopped) • 2 cups water • ½ tsp turmeric powder • 1 large potato (cut into wedges) • Few coriander leaves • 1 tbsp lemon juice • Salt as required

Method

Fish Take the darnes of fish and marinate them with salt and turmeric. Keep aside for 20 minutes. • Now heat oil in a large pan and fry the fish for 4-5 minutes on each side. Remove the fish from the pan and keep aside Curry In the same pan, add dry red chillies, panch phoran and let them splutter. • Add tomatoes and sauté till oil separates. Now add 2 cups water and mix well. • Add turmeric powder, potato, salt and let it simmer on a medium flame till the potatoes are cooked. • Add the fried fish and gently simmer for 4-5 minutes. Turn off the flame. • Lastly, add few coriander leaves and lime juice. Serve hot.
